Ideal for countertops, conference tables, custom furniture and more, Urban boasts a broad range of slabs, many native to the North Shore of Long Island from felled trees. Many or our in-stock slabs are longer lengths than you would typically find, a plus for interior designers and architects who need unusual sizes for their specs.
In order to make a flitch, all boards from the same tree are cut in sequential order with many having a natural edge. Cutting the tree in such a way creates matching boards, and the ability to create book matched boards, such that the same color and grain patterns are available for your projects.
Our slabs are tagged, numbered, and brought to our hoop house to be air dried for at least 18 months so that the true character of the grain is revealed when the excess moisture is removed. All slabs at the warehouse are kiln dried. Air dried slabs are available on request.
Slabs are sold as individual slabs or log sets.
